Wear & Care

To prevent the natural oxidation process, MAMALOVES recommends storing the jewelry in a closed box, being cautious with perfume, and avoiding or minimizing wearing it during activities such as showering, swimming, sports, cleaning, and sleeping. Wearing it alongside other coarser jewelry or watches may cause wear, especially with soft materials like silver. Many MAMALOVES customers, however, wear their jewelry day and night and appreciate the 'worn' look. In such cases, be aware that your jewelry may wear out faster. If desired, you can have the jewelry re-knotted. MAMALOVES uses materials in Sterling Silver 925, 18-carat gold-plated, 18-carat rose gold-plated, and 14-carat gold.

Material Sterling Silver 925

Sterling silver is a precious metal that naturally tarnishes (oxidizes) over time due to air and the natural oils on your skin. This is a normal reaction of silver. With the MAMALOVES polishing cloth provided with your order, we recommend polishing the jewelry once a month. You can also clean the jewelry with silver polish. In this case, be aware that you may cause stains on the cord.

Material 18-carat Gold-Plated

Our 18k gold-plated materials consist of a base layer of a 'base' metal, with a 'precious' layer of gold on top. The gold layer can wear off during regular daily use, for example, through contact with the skin or other jewelry and clothing. Avoid the use of greasy creams, perfume, or oil.

Additionally, the degree of wear depends on the acidity of your skin, which varies for everyone. For gold-plated jewelry, we also recommend polishing them at least once a month with the provided MAMALOVES polishing cloth.

Material 14-carat Gold

The 14K yellow gold we use is an alloy of 58.5% pure gold and the rest contains the other metals. Gold is a valuable metal that does not oxidize or discolor under normal use. Use a toothbrush and a non-abrasive cleaner to gently polish your gold jewelry. Avoid contact with bleach and other household cleaning agents, as this may discolor the gold.

Material 9 carat

The 9 carat we work with is an alloy of 37.5% pure gold and the rest contains the other metals. 9 carat is a valuable metal that does not oxidize or discolor with normal use. Use a toothbrush and a non-abrasive cleaner to gently polish your gold jewellery. Avoid contact with bleach and other household cleaners as this can discolour the material.

Satin Cord

The cord used by MAMALOVES comes from Italy. The lifespan depends on the level of usage. Over time, the cord will discolor and show signs of wear. In that case (or if you simply want a different color), you can have the jewelry re-knotted.

MAMALOVES uses only the highest quality chains, as you would expect from us. Reasons for a chain to break (e.g., getting caught on something, a small child grabbing the chain, etc.), except for a manufacturing defect, do not qualify for warranty.
